Microsoft has launched Azure Data Center in Australia

Microsoft has launched Azure Services from two Data Centers at the Sydney edition of its TechEd Australia conference on October 27, 2014. It’s main competitor Amazon has only one data center in Australia. This has made the total number of regions Azure is operational in globally to 19.

Microsoft Azure services has undergone Australian Signals Directorate’s (ASD) Industry Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment In addition, a Microsoft Australia blog post claims that i addition to the IRAP assessment, Microsoft products and services hold key global certifications, including ISO 27001 and SOC2 and EU privacy law. Read more about IRAP support.

Microsoft has revealed that Telstra would be the provider for ExpressRoute from 2015, in addition to existing global partner Equinix, which would provides such service from later 2014.

ExpressRoute provides private data connection to Azure Data Centers.
